Xi Yu Lin, Haru Nomura, Caroline Masson
10:15 a.m. – Group 21 – 1st Tee
China’s Xi Yu Lin will play alongside Japan’s Haru Nomura and Germany’s Caroline Masson during the opening round of the Reignwood LPGA Classic. Lin returns home as an Olympian after representing her country in Rio along with Shanshan Feng who captured the bronze for China. She’s looking to pick up her third top-10 of the season at an event where she hasn’t had much success, her best showing coming in a T-23 finish in 2013. Nomura is making just her first start in this event in search of her third win of the season after capturing the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open and Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic earlier this season. Masson is the third member of this group looking to build on the momentum she found late this summer in capturing the Manulife LPGA Classic for her first win on Tour. She finished T-15 in this event in 2014.
Brooke Henderson, Sei Young Kim, Amy Yang
10:26 a.m. – Group 23 – 1st Tee
Canada’s Brooke Henderson will play alongside The Republic of Korea’s Sei Young Kim and Amy Yang on Thursday at the Reignwood LPGA Classic and their consistency this season makes them a group to watch. Collectively, the trio has 27 top-10 finishes in 2016 and four victories this season between them. They all made the trip to Rio to represent their respective countries as well. While Henderson and Kim are making their first start in this event, Yang is the veteran of the group with two prior starts in China. She finished in a share of 10th in 2013 and T-35 in 2014.
Mirim Lee, Shanshan Feng, Ariya Jutanugarn
10:37 a.m. – Group 26 – 1st Tee
The Republic of Korea’s Mirim Lee, China’s Shanshan Feng and Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn are grouped together in the opening round in China. Both Lee and Feng captured the playing of this event in its first two years. China’s Feng won in front of a hometown crowd for her second victory on the LPGA Tour. She could back it up with another win this week as she’s coming off her best finish on Tour this season in a fourth place finish at Evian. Lee returns as defending champion despite winning back in 2014 with the event not being played in 2015. The win was one of two victories for Lee during her rookie season on Tour. She’s come closing to winning throughout 2016 with back to back runner-up finishes at the Marathon LPGA Classic and RICOH Women’s British Open. World No.2 Jutanugarn is the final member of this group and making her first start in this event. In her last five starts she hasn’t finished worse than T-9 in addition to two victories and a runner-up finish.
