Things are beginning to green at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club (DMGCC) where the 2017 Solheim Cup will be played. Today club members are getting into the swing of things as golf season commences on this distinguished and beautiful course in West Des Moines. When the 2017 Solheim Cup commences you’ll be able to join these locals in patriotic cheering at the First Tee.
Before you even arrive in Iowa for the most prestigious event in women’s golf, thousands of hours of care and maintenance will go into creating the ideal course conditions for the professionals of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the Ladies European Tour (LET). In fact, a large course renovation has been underway since August 2013.
The course was originally designed by legendary course architect Pete Dye. Today, with Dye’s consultation and master plan in mind, DMGCC has two 18-hole courses. They are commonly referred to as the North Course and the South Course. This 36-hole club will enable both the Solheim Cup and PING Junior Solheim Cup to be played on the same course for the first time in the United States.
In addition to the renovated grounds, you’ll also notice a lively population of birds at DMGCC. This course is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The grounds staff leverages best practices in conservation and maintenance to create an environment that is friendly to the Midwest’s feathered creatures.
DMGCC is truly a beautiful golf course. But don’t just take our word for it. Come see the course for yourself at the 2017 Solheim Cup. Get your tickets today at http://www.solheimcupusa.com/tickets .
