Members of Team USA are decided by the top-8 U.S. Solheim Cup Points earners, two players from the Rolex Rankings not already qualified by points, and two captains picks.

2017 Solheim Cup Team USA

Lexi Thompson comes into the 2017 Solheim Cup off the back of a stellar season on the LPGA Tour, including one victory and five more runner-up finishes. Thompson will be looking to carry on her unbeaten record from 2015, where she picked up two wins and two halves as Team USA staged the biggest comeback in Solheim Cup history.

Stacy Lewis’ Solheim Cup points percentage has steadily improved over the last three events she has competed in, and last year picked up two wins in four matches. Lewis will be looking to rekindle the spark she found when paired with Gerina Piller as the duo won both their fourball and foursomes matches, the most impressive being a 5&4 victory over Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Hedwall.

Gerina Piller went unbeaten at the 2015 Solheim Cup, with three wins and one half. Piller’s 1up victory over Caroline Masson proved to be key to America’s historical comeback. Her partnership with Lewis was also impressive. The pair beat Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Hedwall 5&4 in the Saturday morning foursomes, and defeated Caroline Masson and Hedwall 1up in the Saturday afternoon four-balls.

Cristie Kerr is another 2017 LPGA Tour winner representing Team USA. The veteran has been ever present for the United States, since 2002, and has an outstanding record in the fourballs. Despite having nine different partners in her last eight appearances in fourballs, Kerr won 10.5 points for her team.

Danielle Kang

Danielle Kang is one of two Solheim rookies representing Team USA in 2017. The former two-time U.S. Women’s Amateur champion made broke through this season for her first win on Tour at the second major of the year, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Michelle Wie

This will be Michelle Wie’s fifth appearance at a Solheim Cup and will be looking to pick up from where she left off in 2015. After losing both her foursomes matches, Wie bounced back with a 6&4 defeat of Caroline Hedwall in the penultimate singles match to help her team to a record comeback.

Brittany Lang

Brittany Lang will be looking to improve on her performance at the 2015 Solheim Cup where she picked up just half a point with Gerina Piller in the day one fourballs. Instead, she will be hoping to recreate her performance from the 2013 matches when she picked up three points for her side.

Brittany Lincicome

Brittany Lincicome has been ever present on Team USA team since 2007, but has had mixed success on the course. Her best results came in the fourballs, where she picked up 3.5 of her 6 points. Lincicome will be looking to improve her record from the last Solheim Cup, as she lost all four matches she played in 2015.

Lizette Salas

Although having only played two Solheim Cups, Lizette Salas’ strong suit is singles matches. In her 2013 rookie debut, Salas came close to defeating Solheim Cup veteran Suzann Pettersen but did secure half a point. In 2015, she defeated Azahara Munoz 3&2 to help secure Team USA’s historic comeback.

Angel Yin’s consistent form in her rookie year on the LPGA Tour has been enough reason for Juli Inkster to include her in her Solheim Cup side. Yin also performed well on the Ladies European Tour, finishing 11th on the Order of Merit.

Austin Ernst is another first timer in the USA team at this year’s Solheim Cup, although does have some team matchplay experience as she represented the United States at the 2012 Curtis Cup. Her form has been steady on the LPGA Tour this season and will looking to use that to help her side retain the Solheim Cup.

Paula Creamer

Paula Creamer was given a Solheim Cup lifeline after Jessica Korda withdrew from the team due to injury, giving Juli Inkster an alternative pick. Recent good form and a strong Solheim record across all three formats helped Inkster choose the Solheim veteran to be part of her team. Creamer looks to improve on her 14-8-5 record in Des Moines.
