The 2017 Solheim Cup could be a record-breaking year for both Cristie Kerr and Suzann Pettersen, as they battle it out in Des Moines, Iowa.

On top of potentially becoming Solheim record holders, the pair can also creep closer to numerous other records, many of which are held by Europe’s Laura Davies.

Take a look at the records that may be broken below, and records that are being chased down by both Kerr and Pettersen.

Kerr vs Pettersen

The duo will move up to second in all time appearances at Solheim Cups with nine appearances, alongside USA captain Juli Inkster, as they chase down Davies’ record of 12 Solheim Cup appearances.

If Pettersen plays in the foursomes matches on both Friday and Saturday she will become the leading appearance maker in foursomes, with 16 appearances, and leapfrog the group of Laura Davies, Annika Sorenstam, Juli Inkster and Catriona Matthew on 15 appearances.

If Pettersen were to win both of these matches, she would sit in solo second place for most points scored in foursomes competition, 1.5 points behind her captain Annika Sorenstam.

Pettersen has another chance to make the record books in the four-ball format too, providing she is paired with Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist. The duo need just one win to lead the way on most points scored in four-ball competition as a pair, with current pairings of Juli Inkster & Beth Daniel, and Dottie (Pepper) Mochrie & Brandie Burton leading the way with 2.5 points scored.

There may also be the opportunity for the pairing of Kerr & Creamer to become the leading points scorers in four-ball competition too, as they have also picked up two points in their pair.

Both Kerr and Pettersen can leapfrog European captain Sorenstam in terms of matches played (37). Kerr would need to feature four times to move above Sorenstam, whereas Pettersen would need to play in all five matches throughout the week to do the same. They’re again chasing down Davies’ record of 46 matches played.

The Norweigan would also need to feature and win all five of her matches if she is to join Annika Sorenstam in second place for points earned (24).

For Kerr, she can become the all-time leading points scorer in four-ball competition with just a half in any four-ball match she plays. This is because she is currently tied with Davies on 10.5 points scored. She will also be just one appearance off Davies’ leading four-ball appearance record (19) if she features on both Friday and Saturday.
