The afternoon four-ball matches will include all the players who sat out Friday morning’s foursomes session as both captains chose to get their entire teams out on Day One.
Danielle Kang/Lizette Salas (USA) vs. Suzanne Pettersen/Anne van Dam (EUR)
With all four of these players sitting out the morning session, Team Europe’s Catriona Matthew paired her captain’s pick, Pettersen, with long-hitting rookie van Dam, while Juli Inkster went with Salas, who captured the point that secured the cup in Des Moines in 2017, and Kang, who had a 3-1-0 record in her Solheim debut two years ago.
Ally McDonald/Angel Yin (USA) vs. Anna Nordqvist/Caroline Hedwall (EUR)
One of six rookies on Team USA, McDonald will pair with the youngest player on her team, the 20-year-old Yin, who had a 1-1-1 record in Des Moines in 2017. They will take on the Swedish duo of Nordqvist and Hedwall, a veteran of three Solheim Cups who went 5-0-0 in Europe’s 2013 victory in Colorado.
Nelly Korda/Brittany Altomare (USA) vs. Charley Hull/Azahara Munoz (EUR)
Sticking to her word, Inkster put out two rookies together. The big surprise was breaking up the Korda sisters, who had a decisive 6-and-4 victory in Friday’s foursomes session, while Matthew kept the morning team of Hull and Munoz together for the afternoon.
Jessica Korda/Lexi Thompson (USA) vs. Carlota Ciganda/Bronte Law (EUR)
Matthew kept another team together, sending Ciganda and Law out again after the duo halved their morning foursomes match. They will take on the longest-hitting duo of the day in Korda and Thompson.
