The U.S. and Europe split Friday morning’s opening session in the Netherlands, leaving the teams tied 2-2 entering the afternoon. It is just the third time in 19 Solheim Cups that the teams finished Day 1 morning play deadlocked, joining 2011 (Ireland) and 2015 (Germany).

Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz made history with a 4-and-3 victory over Charley Hull and Lottie Woad. The win improved their tandem record to 5-0-0, making them the first pairing in Solheim Cup history to win five consecutive matches together.

Lauren Coughlin and Alison Lee secured the other U.S. point with Coughlin improving to 4-0-1 (.900) in her Solheim Cup career, giving her the highest winning percentage in event history among players with at least five matches.

Europe countered with a victory by Esther Henseleit and Leona Maguire over Andrea Lee and Lindy Duncan. Maguire improved to 9-3-1 (.731) to claim the highest winning percentage by a European player in tournament history (minimum five matches), surpassing Janice Moodie (.727) and Carin Koch (.719).

Maja Stark and Linn Grant defeated Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho to secure the final morning point for Europe.
