Rolex Rankings No. 1 becomes the first player to earn coveted spot on U.S. Team

Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 Nelly Korda has secured her spot on the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup Team.

The 27-year-old currently has 2,603 points in the U.S. Solheim Cup Team standings and sits 1,039.50 points ahead of her closest peer, Angel Yin who has 1,563.50 points. With only nine events remaining in the Qualifying Period, Korda cannot be surpassed.

The Qualifying Period for the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup Team began at the 2024 FM Championship and will conclude following the 2026 CPKC Women’s Open. The top seven players in the U.S. Solheim Cup points standings that have not already clinched will then be named to the team. They will be joined by the top two players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings who are not already qualified and three captain’s picks.

Since the 2024 FM Championship, Korda has played in 30 LPGA Tour events, picking up four LPGA Tour wins, including one major championship victory, and an additional 15 career top-10 finishes.

The Floridian came out of the gates swinging in 2026. She kicked off the season by finishing T2 or better in six consecutive starts, followed by another top-10 finish at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G. Korda heads to Riviera Country Club for the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally this week as one of the strongest athletes in professional golf and is hoping to add another major championship victory to her resume.

U.S. Solheim Cup Captain Angela Stanford has been following Korda’s dominant journey for the past several years and has served as an assistant captain for three American teams (2021, 2023 and 2024) of which Korda has been a member.

“I am truly excited Nelly is the first to qualify for our team,” said Stanford. “Nelly’s hard work, demeanor, and competitiveness make her an asset and I can’t wait to watch her compete for the USA at Bernardus.”

Korda will make her fifth Solheim Cup appearance this fall, carrying a 10-5-1 record overseas to the Netherlands. Alongside Allisen Corpuz, the duo is one of three undefeated U.S. partnerships that have played matches together at least four times. Korda and Corpuz also hold the U.S. Solheim Cup Team record for most foursomes matches won and most foursomes points won at four, respectively.

In the last edition of the Solheim Cup at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in 2024, Korda held a 3-1-0 record. She won each of her foursomes matches with partner Corpuz and a fourball match alongside Megan Khang before falling to Englishwoman Charley Hull in Sunday singles.
