With the Solheim Cup getting underway next week in Germany, members of both teams are treating this week’s Evian Championship not only as a major but as a tune-up for next week’s event.
“These are two really big weeks, very important,” Lexi Thompson said Thursday. “Obviously, Solheim Cup was my No. 1 goal to be on that team to represent my country, so I'm very happy to be going to Germany next week. But you have to focus on this week being the last major here at the Evian Championship, and this is always a great tournament to come back to.”
“It's two good weeks, two good events, and I don't think you need to make something any different. It's just like stick to your routine and be focused for sure a little bit more then usual and try to play your best,” Karine Icher told the media this week.
“I think everybody's talking about it so certainly it's been in the front of everyone's mind here with a huge major championship, the last one of the year and then going next week with both teams playing here it's certainly something that people are talking about,” Morgan Pressel told the media Tuesday. “But at the end of the day if I can play well this week, that gives me a lot of confidence going into next week.”
