Two-time LPGA Tour winner and six-time Solheim Cup Team USA member Morgan Pressel appeared on “A New Breed of Golf” today, a SiriusXM radio show hosted by Michael Breed, to discuss her competitive drive and the different ways she has remained busy at home.
Many fans are missing live sports, so Breed asked Pressel which she missed more: the game or the competition.
“I love competing and I love traveling abroad competing against the best players in the world. I mean you're always competing against yourself even in golf. So even if you're not out in a real competition or club championship, or whatever it might be, you know you're always competing with yourself, trying to get better, trying to chase that elusive or unattainable perfection of golf,” Pressel said.
With a nod to the LPGA Tour fans, Pressel shared a unique story about an item she has used out on Tour for more than 14 years.
“I’m not a super, super, superstitious person, but I have a couple [superstitions],” said Pressel. “I have this one divot tool that I've been using. A fan gave it to me like my second year on Tour and there was a time I lost it, or thought I’d lost it. Somebody in the group behind us found it and I was so happy. I've had it for 14 years probably now.”
Embracing her current at-home lifestyle, she has been working on her golf game and making the most of time spent with those around her, including sister and Epson Tour professional Madison Pressel.
“It's a little bit of a challenge staying on top of the game since the courses are closed, but I do have a net in the backyard and hit every now and then,” Pressel said. “It’s not quite the same as watching a ball played or hitting off the grass, but doing the best we can with what we’ve got. I am working out a lot; I've been doing a lot of cooking; my sister is also here so the two of us come up with some creative ideas. I’ve been teaching my new puppy some tricks. ‘The Greatest Showman’ is our favorite movie; we have probably watched it three times in the last two weeks.”
